What inspired you to choose a career in social work / professional counseling?
It all started in 5th grade when my teacher introduced our class to the field of psychology. The topic immediately fascinated me. I then moved towards counseling as it appeared to be the best fit for my skillset, interests, and values.
Can you describe any therapeutic modalities or techniques you use in clinical practice?
Firstly, I believe person-centered principles are essential to all effective therapy. I take a holistic approach with my patients focusing on the individual’s needs, preferences and goals. My therapeutic lens aligns mostly with the Adlerian theory. I also use practical CBT techniques and approaches, adapting methods to fit each client's unique needs.
How would you describe your approach in practice?
I'm naturally laid-back and aim to make clients feel comfortable. While I'm supportive, I'm also direct when it helps move things forward. My focus is on understanding the client's perspective and working collaboratively toward their goals.
What’s a hobby or interest you enjoy outside of work?
I really enjoy physical fitness, going to the gym and other wellness related activities.
Do you have a favorite book, movie, song or quote that inspires you?
Many things inspire me! I'm constantly writing down ideas in my Google Docs and notepad. But having to pick one...I'll go with the song "Make Your Own Kind of Music" by Cass Elliot!
