What inspired you to choose a career in social work / professional counseling?
My personal therapy journey profoundly impacted my life, inspiring me to change careers and become a therapist. Growing up without the support of a therapist, when I needed it most, left a lasting impression on me. I am determined to ensure others don't experience the same void. I am passionate about helping youth and young adults process, heal, and move forward in life when they need it most. Becoming a therapist allows me to support individuals and families in their growth and resilience. Witnessing clients navigate their toughest times and make progress in their healing journey is incredibly fulfilling and drives my dedication to this profession.
Can you describe any therapeutic modalities or techniques you use in clinical practice?
I am passionate about helping children, adolescents, and young adults navigate depression, anxiety, life transitions, and trauma. My approach combines Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Family Systems Theory, and Mindfulness to create comprehensive and personalized care plans tailored to each client's needs. My goal is to assist clients in developing healthy boundaries, emotional regulation skills, and self-care habits, empowering them to make meaningful and sustainable changes in their lives.
How would you describe your approach in practice?
I aim to build a collaborative, non-judgmental relationship with my clients, allowing us to explore together the thoughts, feelings, and behaviors that may be hindering their ability to live their most meaningful life. My goal is to create a space where clients feel comfortable, supported, and respected. I approach each session with honesty and compassion, always treating clients as the expert of their own lived experiences.
What’s a hobby or interest you enjoy outside of work?
Outside of work, you can find me enjoying the beach with my dog, sipping matcha at a cute cafe, or getting lost in a good book.
Do you have a favorite book, movie, song or quote that inspires you?
I love Maya Angelou’s “Still I Rise.” This powerful poem embodies resilience in the face of oppression and adversity, serving as a symbol of self-esteem, self-respect, confidence, and strength. It reminds us that, despite the hard, painful, and difficult times, we have the strength to rise again.
“Just like moons and like suns,
With the certainty of tides,
Just like hopes springing high,
Still I'll rise”
