SAND TRAY THERAPY
She works with clients across the lifespan but has a passion for helping children, adolescents, and young adults navigate anxiety, trauma, emotional regulation, self-esteem, and life transitions.
“ It is a privilege to walk alongside my clients as they discover their strengths and build the confidence to thrive.”
What inspired you to choose a career in social work / professional counseling?
I've always been passionate about helping children and adolescents feel understood. Young people are incredibly resilient, but they don't always have the words to express what they're experiencing. I became a social worker to provide a safe, supportive space where children, teens, and families can navigate life's challenges together. Watching a child discover their strengths, build confidence, and realize they're capable of overcoming obstacles is one of the most rewarding parts of my work
Can you describe any therapeutic modalities or techniques you use in clinical practice?
I believe every child is unique, so I tailor therapy to meet each client where they are. I am trained in EMDR and Sand Play Therapy and incorporate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), mindfulness, play-based interventions, and expressive activities into my work. I believe therapy doesn't always have to look like sitting across from someone talking—sometimes healing happens while building a sand tray, creating art, playing a game, or simply sharing a genuine laugh. Whether we're processing difficult experiences, learning new coping skills, or exploring emotions through play, my goal is to help children feel understood, build confidence, and discover the strengths they already have.
What’s a hobby or interest you enjoy outside of work?
Outside of work, I enjoy discovering new coffee shops, spending time with family and friends, and continuing to learn through books and professional development. I'm always looking for creative ideas and activities that help children learn, express themselves, and grow.
How would you describe your approach in practice?
My approach is warm, collaborative, and relationship-focused. I strive to create an environment where children and teens feel safe, accepted, and comfortable being themselves. I believe parents and caregivers are an important part of the therapeutic process, and I enjoy partnering with families to support lasting growth. My hope is that every child leaves therapy feeling more confident, resilient, and hopeful than when they first walked through the door.
Do you have a favorite book, movie, song or quote that inspires you?
"Anything that's human is mentionable, and anything that is mentionable can be more manageable." - Fred Rogers I love this quote because it reflects the heart of therapy. When children know it's safe to talk about their feelings and experiences, healing and growth can begin.
