What inspired you to choose a career in social work / professional counseling?
I have always been drawn to helping others and knew early on that I wanted a career where I could make a meaningful difference. My passion for mental health began in high school, when an AP Psychology teacher inspired me to look at myself and the world around me in a new way. That experience opened my eyes to the importance of mental health and how often young people are left to navigate their emotions without the understanding or support they need.
Today, I am especially passionate about working with children and adolescents, helping them make sense of big feelings they may not yet have the words to express. My goal is to create a warm, welcoming space where they feel comfortable being themselves, know their voices matter, and develop the confidence and tools to navigate life's challenges.
Can you describe any therapeutic modalities or techniques you use in clinical practice?
My therapeutic approach is grounded in a person-centered, non-directive approach, incorporating sand tray therapy, play therapy, and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) techniques to meet each client’s unique needs. I believe in meeting clients where they are developmentally and emotionally, using the language of play and other age-appropriate interventions to support the goals of the child and their family. Building strong, trusting relationships with both clients and their families is at the heart of my work, as I firmly believe that trust and rapport are the foundation for meaningful growth and lasting change.
I have received training in sand tray therapy through Lighthouse Counseling, along with additional training in grief work, art therapy, play therapy, and CBT techniques. My clinical experience primarily focuses on supporting children and adolescents navigating trauma, grief and loss, anxiety, depression, ADHD, autism, sport anxiety, and school-related challenges. I also have a passion for working with young adults and college-aged individuals as they navigate the unique challenges and transitions that come with this stage of life.I strive to create a safe, supportive, and collaborative environment where clients feel understood, empowered, and equipped with the tools they need to navigate life’s challenges.
What’s a hobby or interest you enjoy outside of work?
Outside of work, I enjoy giving back to my community as a youth cheerleading coach for the Howell Rebels Rec Cheer program! I have the privilege of coaching two teams of athletes ages 8–14, sharing my passion for a sport that has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. I love being able to support my athletes as they grow, build confidence, and develop both on and off the mat. When I’m not working or at cheer practice, you can usually find me relaxing with a book on the beach or spending quality time with my family! I also love spending time with my two dogs, Cooper and Chase!
Do you have a favorite book, movie, song or quote that inspires you?
I am a HUGE Taylor Swift fan and love reading in my free time! I enjoy exploring a variety of genres, but some of my favorite books are by Kristin Hannah, especially The Women and The Nightingale. This year, The Calamity Club and The Bright Years have also been two of my favorite reads!
